‘Collaborative Approach to Carbon Reductions at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust’
Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals and CPW have collaborated closely to better understand the estate. Fundamental parameters and common approaches were rolled out across both operational and capital estates teams. The Trust has formed an Energy Security & Decarbonisation group to oversee electrical re-enforcements, long term growth plans and project value uplifts due to carbon reduction benefits. Representing part of the carbon reduction strategy, Royal Shrewsbury Hospital successfully secured £16.2m through the PSDS. Collaboration was key to the Trust’s success – SaTH, CPW, the CEF and the successful contractor (Vital Energi) worked together to ensure the direction and agreed solution was deliverable, fit for a healthcare estate and will provide long term benefit. Attention now turns to life beyond the PSDS scheme and how to achieve 2040 target of Net-Zero.
